We could always create something called the "public market" which is completely seperate from the Dark Lord's Shop and players can access at any time. Players could put items up for sale/auction and buy/bid on them.

Personally I would probably prefer players simply putting items up for sale at their specified price, since it would allow players to buy/sell items significantly quicker. An auction would require a bidding period (probably at least 5 days), in which time it would be easier for a player to just get the item some other way.
