Could you please explain how it you feel it is absurd and paradoxical rather than just claiming it to be true? I find it very hard to accept your claims as true without anything to support them.
As for the other changes, those are to prevent other abusable circumstances (such as repeatedly changing the contents of your spell book in order to identify a spell, then changing it back right away).
