How would everybody feel about having a currency?
It could be useful for buying other votes and anything else that comes into the game.

I like this.
I suggest the following :
*The currency be called 'fish', as in "I have fifty fish."
*The symbol be this :<x>< , as in "I have <50><"
*Each player gets <50>< to start with.
*Points can be converted to <>< at the rate of "10 points = <1><"
*Bribery is encouraged.
*Any player with the appropriate number of <>< can purchase a "Hat Of Ultimate Power", which gives no power unless specified by another rule. I suggest a price of <200><
*Any player with the appropriate number of <>< can purchase a "Pair Of Rediculous Pants", which gives no power unless specified by another rule. I suggest a price of <100><

I think we need a second currency: *Itīs name is gnomish. *Gnomish can only be obtained by exchanging with fishes. The rate of exchange drops by 10 every day. Itīs minimum is 10. It increases by one with every exchange. (rate = fishes for one gnomish) *The voting gnome will place one vote in favor/against a proposal for every gnomish payed. *A player loses 1/10 of his gnomish per day, rounded up. (To prevent hoarding of gnomish and getting every proposal passed)

vulture, that's just crazy!
A few points though: 1.) I think a fixed exchange rate would do, though I understand your intention. Unless someone was assigned the duty of overseeing Gnomish transactions, I see a variable rate as being a big headache (and I'm the guy with an eternally stalemated proposal).
2) The current version of the Voting Gnome only has one vote. Perhaps, one could 'buy' a Voting Gnome for X Gnomish, and, er..."sacrifice" him for one extra vote. Same effect, different mechanism. Perhaps limit the number of Gnomes, (voting or otherwise), to one or two.
3) Losing an amount each day would be kind of a headache too. A fixed cap would be better, I think.
But hey, we don't even have a Voting Gnome or a fish-based economy yet, so it's all moot right now

Hi,
Just a few thoughts..
I'd really prefer to see the currency fixed. We can have a quick PHP program written up to log players currency.
How does everyone feel about having someone as the position of score keeper who does that? They get a certain amount of fish/a week for their troubles?
Does everybody think we actually need a point system *AND* a currency system?

1. There is a currency called fish.
2. Every new player begins with 50 fish. Every current player will receive 50 fish upon approval of this proposal.
3. There will be a forum called the "Transfer Forum"
4. Fish can be transfered between players. Transfers will be made by posting in the transfer forum, the alloted amount of fish a player wants to transfer and the other players name.
5. In a transfer the fish are automatically given to the player it's being transferred to. If the player transferring the money tries to transfer more fish than he or she has then the transfer will be void.
6. A player cannot transfer any less than 10 fish for each transfer.
7. A player cannot have a negative amount of fish.
8. A players amount of fish will be updated on the Newomic website.
9. The symbol for the fish currency will be <x>< where X is the amount of fish.

Transfers could be in a fixed format like TRANSFER sinblox 100 would transfer 100 fish from me to sinblox. Just that this could really be automated and get it transfered with posting.
A page with summary for (all) players would be nice, with things like amount of fish(es) (whatīs the plural?) and player status or day of last vote or so.
Currency and points: for now currency will suffice, we can add anything we want later

vulture, good idea.. I never thought about automating that. I'll have to look into it.

If we have a curency we need to have rules on regulating who gets it when or I could arbatraraly start giving myself fish and become the richest man in the game.

I don't see anything in the rules granting you the authority to do whatever you want as long as it's not prohibited by the rules. But perhaps we should make a rule to that effect.
