Titular Consistency - Tritium

All proposals must have a title. If a proposal is submitted without a title, the IE may choose to ignore it, reject it, title it untitled or give it another title. Proposals submitted without a title earn their player no Pats on the Back.

Meet Pat - Tritium - Replaces proposal #1

The currency of IN30 is minted in Pats on the Back, also known as Pats, PotB, P or Quid. A Pat is a small chromium figurine, about an inch long, of a genial Irishman lying on his back with his limbs in the air. Upon joining the game of IN30, players are given a number of Pats on the Back. However, since Pats are notoriously difficult to count, players are given an unknown amount of Pats, probably on the order of a hundred. The Humble scribe will keep track of the amount of Pats on the Back each player has, to the extent this is possible, ie if a player loses 20 of his/her original Pats, the scribe will note this as ?-20 P.
IE: Let's make the PotBs able to link together for easy transportation. In the interest of simplicity all players will begin with NO BotB (it's just as arbitrary, right?).

A player who Saves the Empire, Wins the Heart of the Beautiful Princess and Takes Her Hand in Marriage shall be declared The Exalted Winner.

Conditions for Imperial Inauguration - Soundwave

Upon successful completion of the game, the prospectful new Imperial Nomic must undergo certain rituals of inauguration. The ceremony begins with a great feast, at which, boiled marmoset and various other endangered mammals are served along with a drink colourfully referred to as "The Devil Juice". After the feast, everyone moves to the Great Hall where the initiation begins. The Imperial Nomic-to-be is herded into a small booth where, at regular intervals, he is showered with either ice cold water or scaldingly hot rootbeer. If he survives this test, he is then subjected to a vicious beating with Nerf bats by angry midget volleyball players. After the battle subsides, the Imperial Nomic is crowned and promptly ushered out the door, cause no one likes a winner.
IE: Rules for this game do not apply to the next game. Thank you for the suggestion, glad to see that creativity is running high.

Earning PotBs - Soundwave

A player receives PotBs based on the acceptance of their proposals. The exact ammount shall be fixed and initially determined by the IE, but a suggestion is three (3) for accepted proposals, one (1) for rejected and zero (0) for ignored proposals. Pats may also be earned by players who do 'grunt work' for the IE. In this case their PotB earnings must be declared to avoid miscount.
IE: 2 when accepted, -1 when rejected for wasting the IE's time, 0 for ignored.

Players must title their proposals. Otherwise the IE may choose to rename the unnamed proposal, ignore it or even reject it. Should the IE accept the unnamed proposal, the player that proposed it will receive zero (0) PotBs.

HS _can_ propose - Tritium

The rules state "The Game of Imperial Nomic shall always include at least two not necessarily distinct players who are office-holders". That means both the IE and the HS are players and therefore subject to all the same rules as players unless otherwise noted.
IE: Noting, of course, that the HS has no more weight than the other players.

Winning the Game - Aggravated

Players may acheive any of the three main goals without accomplishing the other two. However, a player must accomplish ALL THREE GOALS to win the game. This of course would be made much easier if the world of IN30 were polygamist. On that note I propose that Saving the Empire involves curbing the all to powerfull barbarian army of Maryaj The Raepists, a dreaded and horrible creature with a million eyes and a thousand tentacles, who feeds on the blood of virgins as aperatif and leaves naught but poisoned earth in its wake. It is said that Maryaj is the bastard child of satan himself and an industrial size blender, its armies are those soldiers who died without honor and that to glance insomuch at its shadow is enough to drive lesser gods insane. How this fiend is to be stopped I do not know, it shall be up to some other brave warrior to resolve. (If you're wondering how the first part relates to the second, say the name out loud quickly)

Seeking the Hand of the Beautiful Princess - CowJason

HS - I'm putting this in word for word because it demonstrates the beauty and elegance that is sucking up. Good work, CowJason.
Dear and beloved emperor, this is my first proposel to your greatness. It seems to me that your other worshipers have aliases, so you may refer to me, if it pleases your greatness to do so, as "CowJason."

In order to take the hand of the Beutiful Princess (BP), one must pay the IE a handsome dowery of twenty PotB, at which time the IE is, of course, free to either accept the proposal and announce the wedding via the world wide web, or decline to give up his daughter. If the IE does not accept the proposal, the dowery is returned to the suitor, but a fee of five PotB is subtracted for waisting the IE's valuable time. The procedure involved in seeking the hand of the BP once the BP is already married shall be settled at a later time.
IE: Ammendment to proposal #9: the IE may 'sidebar' a proposal. This means that the IE intends to rule on the proposal and the proposer may submit a new proposal without eliminating the sidebarred proposal.

Romance in the Making - Rizzo

Winning the Heart of the Beautiful Princess is accomplished by finding the mysterious Book of Pick-Up Lines, which is currently owned by the famous womanizer Cyrano. He won't give the Book away, try giving him 25 PotB's.
IE: Soundwave will adopt the character of Cyrano. He is still referred to a Soundwave, but he is the one from whom players can purchase the book. To purcahse the book, send an email requesting the purchase to the HS. First come, first served, no one will be refused unless they do not have the 25 PotBs or Cyrano does not have his one copy of the book. The book is returned to Cyrano when the current owner marries the princess. However, the princess will continue to love her new husband for 30 days, during which time he should endeavour to accomplish the third task, Saving the Kingdom. If he does not Save the Kingdom within the alloted time period, the princess becomes bored and divorces him. That's how we'll play it until someone makes a rule about it.

negative PotBs? - Slakko

Rule 9 says that "A Pat is a small chromium figurine, about an inch long, of a genial Irishman lying on his back with his limbs in the air." Yet I have -1 Pats. Apparently somewhere there is a negative chromium figurine in my possession. How can a player possess a negative number of such things?
HS: Rule #11 states that rejected proposals will cost you 1 PotB. I presume you owe it to Pats, Inc., the multination conglomerate whose profits the IE used to purchase the empire in 1904.

Kicks in the Ass - Joe Java

Kicks in the Ass, also knows as KitAs, Kicks, or Ks, are a form of anti-currency. KitAs build up for negative events in the game. If IE denies a proposal, the player who submitted the proposal will get two (2) KitAs. Players start with (0) KitAs.
IE: You can have negative PotBs, it's a debt you owe to me.

Seeking the Hand of the Beautiful Princess - CowJason

In order to take the hand of the Beautiful Princess (BP), a player must pay the IE a handsome dowry of twenty PotB, at which time the IE is to come up with a response. In order to decide his response, the following calculation must be made:
  1. Find a, where a is the number of accepted proposals the suitor has made.
  2. Find d, where d is the number of declined proposals the suitor has made.
  3. Divide a by d. If d is 0 (The player has a perfect score) the proposal is accepted automatically.
  4. Do the same for the player with the highest amount of PotB, or if the suitor is the highest, then the second highest.
  5. If the suitors score is greater than the players by one or more, than the proposal is accepted, otherwise, it is rejected.
The IE then makes a proclamation announcing the marriage. If the IE does not accept the marriage proposal, the dowry is returned to the suitor, minus a fee of five PotB for wasting the IE's valuable time. The princess can only be married to one individual at a time, as polygamy is not allowed in the kingdom.
IE: Note that you do not have to have the book to marry the princess or vice versa.

Off the Map - Tritium

The Empire of IN30 lies in the Jubjub valley nestled deep within the Craggy Mountains, alongside the Rinky-Tinky River. The river runs north-south smack dab in the middle of the Empire, which is bordered on the east and the west by the Craggy Mountains. The Castle of the Imperial Emperor lies immediately to the west of the River, surrounded by the Village of the Little People. To the east of the river lies the Fairy Forest. In the center of the Fairy Forest lies the Tower of the Evil Wizard. Around the Tower, the Forest become altogether corrupted by the presence of concentrated evil, and is known as the Wicked Wood.
And the happy little teddy bears when prancing back home before their owners even knew they were gone. Story times over, now fuck off.
HS: Seems like I'm not the only one who gets cranky around 2:00 AM.

Crime & Punishment - Slakko

Unless otherwise specified, any player found guilty of breaching the rules of the game shall be thrown into the Pit of Pointlessness, and left there for a period of 3 days, lasting from the time their breach was spotted. No player in the Pit of Pointlessness may submit a Proposal. The Pit of Pointlessness is also inhabited by Metal-Eating Insects. A player thrown into the Pit of Pointlessness therefore loses half of their PotB (rounded down).

Health Echelons - Kevan

There shall exist a range of Health Echelons, which each Player and non-Player Entity is always considered to be at one of. These Echelons are, in the following descending sequence:-

"Healthy", "Scratched", "Wounded", "Dying", "Dead"

If a Player is Dead, they may take no part in the Game beyond the making of Proposals.
If the Beautiful Princess is Dead, her Hand may not be Sought, nor may she become Married.
If the Imperial Emperor or the Humble Scribe is Dead, the Game ends. If their Death was directly caused by the Actions of a Player, that Player becomes the Exalted Winner, otherwise the Exalted Winner is the Player with the highest number of PotBs.
If Maryaj becomes Dead, the Barbarian Army quietly and simultaneously commit suicide, also becoming Dead.
Upon Enactment of this Proposal, all Players and non-Player Entities are at the "Healthy" Echelon, and this paragraph shall remove itself from the Ruleset.

Broken Rule - Slakko

Rule #8 states that "Failure to follow any or all of the preset rules will result in immediate punishment as determined by the rule set."
Rule #3 states that "The IE will judge each proposal submitted and accept, reject or ignore it."
Rule #4 states that "If a player has submitted a proposal and then submits a new proposal before a ruling is made on the first, the new proposal will replace the older proposal."
This appears to be a conflict in the case of Proposal 1, which was submitted, but replaced. Rule #3 was broken in order to satisfy Rule #4. Rule #6 determines which rule takes precedence, specifying that Rule #3 should. Hence Proposal 1 should have been judged. Hence TIE has broken the rules. Hence TIE should be thrown into the Pit of Pointlessness and lose half of his PotBs.
HS: Rule #6 also states "Each submission will be numbered and, if approved by the IE, will apply instantly to all submissions numbered greater than the accepted proposal unless it specifies otherwise." Unless I'm mistaken rule 6 comes after rules #3 and #4, and hence the order of #3 and #4 does not matter. Another way of looking at it is that since proposal #2 replaced #1, #1 effectively never existed. TIE made a ruling on it according to law, so everything is nice and legal. But a very, very nice try, I'd give you my PotBs for that if I wern't so poor. How's that for an empty gesture?

Eh Baroni - Slakko

As befits those who seek the hand of the Princess in marriage, all players are members of the landed gentry. More specifically, all existing players besides TIE and THS are Barons, and any new player starts as a Baron. The levels of gentry above Baron are Count, Earl, and Duke (THS being a Duke). Royalty (of which TIE and the Princess are the only two current examples) is a class above the gentry of course. However, members of the gentry have certain obligations. If ever a member of the gentry goes into debt, and is not a Baron, they must sell their title, fall one level in rank, and receive 10 PotB to discharge their debt with.

Run away, run away! - Kaz

The barbarian army of Maryaj The Raepists originally consists of 100 members. When a proposal is rejected the army gains (10 + X) Squared members, where X is the number of rejected proposals since the number was last reset. Therefore if there were 2 rejected proposals the army would contain 144 members. However if at any time the army contains over 1000 members the creature can no longer control himself and eats all but 100 of his soldiers, which also resets the variable X to zero.

The length of a game day is 24 hours or the length of time between consecutive announcements (proposal decisions, proclamations, etc.) from IE via HS, whichever is longer. Defeating Maryaj - Aggravated

Just before the end of the fifth world war TIE stole enemy blueprints that allowed him to complete his universal power flux pruifier. With it he was able to gain absolute power and thus is the only being within this dimension capable of destroying Maryaj. However, the battle would leave TIE so weak that he would be killed by Maryaj's horde of unholy abominations. Before TIE can attack Maryaj it is necessary for all the players of the game to band together and raise an army. Players email the HS when they wish to enlist/disband units. A payment of one (1) PotB per game day is required to arm, train, feed and house 100 soldiers and it takes 2 days for the unit to be created. For each day a unit exists it gains 10 men at no extra cost. When the battle occurs losses will be 1:1 to the death. Any future law that modifies this proposal takes precedence.

Princess, singular? - CowJason

More or less this is a response to Aggravated's point... Although no mention of the number of the IE's daughters has ever been mentioned, thus far this number is irrelevant because every rule dealing with his daughters have all referred to "the beautiful princess." There may indeed be "the ugly princess" and "the moderately attractive but very easy princess" but it just doesn't matter.

Definition of Characters and NPCs - CowJason

Characters are entities that exist within the game that resemble sentient beings, the like of which are found in the real world. In this game there are two types of characters: players and non-player characters (NPCs). Players are all characters that are described by rule 2. NPCs are all characters that are not players (i.e. The Beautiful Princess, Maryaj).

Letters of Marque - Yaj

A player may challenge another player or non-player entity to a duel. Duels are resolved as follows: THS rolls a fair 20 sided die for the challenger's shot, and uses this number to determine the letter of the challenged's name which is "hit". If the die roll is higher than the number of letters in the target's name, the shot misses, and has no effect. If a target is hit in a particular letter, that letter of their name is shot off, and replaced with a "*" until further notice; the letter is then captured by the shooter as a trophy. After resolving the challenger's shot, THS rolls a fair 20 sided die for the challenged's shot at the challenger, which hits or misses in the same way. A player who is hit in a punctuation mark (including "*") is hit in the next alphabetic letter instead. A player with no remaining letters in his name may no longer challenge or be challenged.

Any player who hits Maryaj The Raepist in a duel and is not hit in the same duel earns 4 PotB's for service to the Empire. A player who shoots off the last letter of Maryaj The Raepist kills him and is considered to have Saved the Empire.

Saviors of the Realm - Aggravated

Although there will be Glorious Tales of Victory and Many a Great Battle, some players may not have the opportunity to Save the Realm from Peril. Therefore, if Maryaj and it's army are defeated a new threat shall rise against the neighboring lands of ThatPlaceOverThere. Since it's ThatPlaceOverThere and we don't really care about the people in ThatPlaceOverThere, only those who wish to be the Heros of someone else's kindom have to go, the rest can stay home in Theory (Theory being the name of TIE's country. Why? Because everything can happen in Theory!). This dosen't break any rule because the rules state "Save the realm" but not which.
