A rule proposal:

When Life Gives You A Hole In The Wall, Build A Doorway [Jota]
  If any damage tally is greater than 0, the active player may as an
  action decrement the tally by one and designate a letter position in the
  name of the room that tally is associated with, and a letter of the
  alphabet; connectivity for that room shall henceforth be calculated as
  if that letter were at that position rather than the actual letter. Use
  of this action causes the active player's brownie point tally to be
  decremented by two.
